Euan MacAuslan: Training, and Food Safety
For over 30 years Euan MacAuslan ran an award-winning Environmental Health Training Service for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea where he organised and ran courses covering food safety, food allergens, licensing, health and safety, and customer services. The service operated across London. Because of budgetary savings the Council cut the service. Euan is now available to offer his skills on a wider food safety and training platform. Prior to running the Council’s training service, his environmental health experience was gained in the Army, in a Cook Chill Production Centre, as a food safety consultant, and also as a food safety technical officer in local government.
He has considerable experience of delivering training solutions for voluntary and charitable organisations, in addition to education, health and social care, community groups, and small and large food businesses involved in catering.
He wrote the UK’s first book on Effective Food Hygiene Training (2003), contributed to editions of Richard Sprenger’s Hygiene for Management, co-authored Food Allergen Awareness and Control in Catering (2020), and assisted with other publications produced by Highfield. Euan has had a number of published papers on food safety and training. He has been involved in qualification development. Euan has experience in training learners at Level 1 who are seeking employment right up to food business operators and managers at Level 4.
Euan has been on secondment to the Food Standards Agency managing a Safer Food Better Business project (2004/5), and in 2016/2017 was on the FSA’s Regulating Our Future Expert Advisory Group. He is a member of the Royal Society of Public Health’s Food Safety Special Interest Group. He has been a speaker at high-profile food safety events and CPD sessions.
He is an Environmental Health Practitioner, in addition to holding Qualified Trainer Learning and Skills status. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health, and Member of the Institute of Food Science and Technology, Member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, and a Member of the Society of Education and Training.
